According to WPIX New York news announcer Larry Mendte, black cherry Wishniak sodas originated in the 1950s with Philadelphia’s Frank’s Beverages. A Wishniak is a cordial, made in Russia and Eastern Europe, that consists of sugar, cherries and vodka.
