Ale-8-One is a ginger and citrus flavored soda that was invented in 1926 by G.L. Wainscott of Winchester, Kentucky. After legal disputes over a cola he created, Wainscott looked for a new, unique flavor for his soft drink business and he came up with Ale-8-One. Fielding A. Wink, introduced in the 1960s by Canada Dry, was once marketed as “The Sassy One.” The ingredients are interesting: it has 2% fruit juice (apple, grapefruit and orange juice concentrate) and includes both high fructose corn syrup and sugar.
