New Britain, Connecticut-based Avery’s Beverages allows guests to make their own soda. The Totally Gross Soda line is inspired by the names that kids would give the sodas that they created. Fresca Original Citrus is a grapefruit flavored zero calorie soda. Fresca was a favorite of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Ohio schoolteacher Frank Stewart opened his Stewart’s Root Beer stand in 1924. Rocket Fizz’s The Wizard of Oz Cherry Cola features artwork that was used for covers of vinyl records from Little Golden Records, which specialized in children’s music. Their releases were distributed by Simon and Schuster, who also published the Little Golden Books series of children’s books at the time.
