Dad’s Root Beer was created in the 1930s by Barney Berns and Ely Klapman in Klapman’s Chicago-area home. When they filed for a trademark in September of 1938, they alleged that it had been in use since February of 1937, so this is considered to be the official starting date of Dad’s.
